1. Rennes train station: a "multimodal exchange hub"
With the arrival of the high-speed train line, Rennes train station is expected to reach 20 million annual passengers in the coming years. To cope with the increase in passenger flow, the redevelopment work includes the creation of a multimodal exchange hub aimed at optimizing interaction between all modes of transportation to make travel more fluid: access to both metro lines, a new bus station, more car and bicycle parking spaces, new pedestrian crossings, and an access footbridge connecting the north and south of the city.
2. 2,300 m2 of services, restaurants, and shops
Rennes train station will soon host services and shops in a multi-level building covering nearly 2,300 m2. The first shops have opened, including Yves Rocher, a cosmetics store, Stade Rennais, a clothing and accessories store featuring the football club's logo, Bagel Corner, a French brand offering a wide range of bagels, and Hénaff & Co., famous for its Breton pâté and strong Breton identity brands.
Other brands such as McDo, Prêt à Manger, or the Ty Vorn bakery plan to open during the year.
Rennes train station will also be equipped with infrastructure to improve user traffic within the station: interactive information terminals, connected chairs and tables, event space, exhibitions...
